The Partner visa changes announced in Australia's 2020-21 budget have triggered intense public debate. The Government has been promoting these changes in a raft of public announcements.
In a recent media release, Acting Minister for Immigration Alan Tudge has clarified to some extent the main question hanging over the expected Partner visa changes - when will they commence?
According to the announcement, changes to the Partner visa framework and English language requirement will come into effect in late 2021 and will apply to new applications only.
Further details will be developed over the coming months, with final details announced next year.
